African Metal Beads
These rustic looking brass beads are handmade in Ghana. The beads are made first in beeswax then covered in clay . The mold is then fired in a kiln and the wax melts away and is then replaced by brass. The mold is cracked when cool and the brass bead appears. Given the handmade nature of these beads and because each has its own mold, the beads vary a bit is size and structure. They make great chunky jewelry.
